Haapala is responsible for sponsorship and general administration in his position as Executive Director of NIRCA. Greg graduated from the University of Michigan in April 2006 with his B.A. in Sport Management and holds a USATF Level One track & field coaching certification. Previously the event coordinator for the U of M running club, he is currently employed as the Director of Ticket Operations and Sales at the University of Detroit Mercy.

 Greg has served as Race Director for seven running and track & field events, and once ran the final 6 mile leg of the Great Lakes Relay in 11.6 miles.
