Michgan ran away with both team titles at the 6th annual MC5 hosted by the Ball State Runner's Association. The race was held again at Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana. The challenging and rugged course was slightly muddy from days of rain, but luckily the clouds parted just in time for the race.
The women's top finisher was University of Michigan's Sarah Brewer with a 6K time of 24:55. The #1-ranked Michigan Women were also team champions, overcoming the Ball State women by a margin of only 1. The Michigan squad, with only five runners competing, had three women in the top five, then held on with their last two to take the victory. Ball State was led by Madi Goheen in fourth place, and had three runners in the top ten. The Purdue women finished third, followed by Indiana. Runners from the University of Miami at Ohio also competed.
The #2-ranked Michigan men also claimed both top finisher (Moses Peters, 27:17) and team champion in convincing fashion. Peters won the individual title by 21 seconds over Purdue's Michael Streicher. Michigan's top five we all in the top ten finishers. They were followed by #5-ranked Purdue in 2nd, with three runners in the top 10. Indiana took third, led by Dustin Spanbauer in third place.
