Ten clubs competed at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational as part of a new addition to the NCAA meet. #3 Michigan's men won the race, led by Max Hock running 27:03 over the 8k course. Michigan topped #1 Wisconsin's squad by 14 points. Ali Schorr (6th, 28:02) and Charlie Mouch (7th, 28:04) helped to solidify the win. Wisconsin was led by Ben Carr (4th, 27:51). Indiana upset #5 Purdue to take third place behind the performances of Matt van Arkel (2nd, 27:45) and Dustin Spanbauer (3rd, 27:46).
A surprising Central Michigan women's team, which did not compete at Nationals last year, topped #2 Michigan by placing 4 runners in the top 20, led by Andrea Kramer in 20:00. Michigan, led by Sarah Brewer (4th, 19:52), just beat Purdue, which was helped by Erika Utter's first-place showing in 19:18.
Two teams, #1 Wisconsin and #4 Illinois, entered their top runners into the NCAA competition. Wisconsin took 18th place in the meet, with Illinois coming in just behind in 20th.
