Race Sanction and Promotion Guidelines
Events that meet the NIRCA Race Sanction Guidelines can be sanctioned by NIRCA as part of the Fall Season. Where a club is hosting an event that is ineligible for sanction or occurring during the Spring, it may be promoted on clubrunning.org. Several criteria stipulate the differences between both classes of NIRCA events.
NIRCA Sanction
Sanctioning your race with NIRCA bundles marketing, information, registration and support, to expand the reach of your targets and enhance the quality and stability of the event. Sanctioning is dependent upon:
1Affiliation
NIRCA races must be affiliated with the school or club hosting the event, eg. the Binghamton Open or Princeton Running Club Invitational.
2Club Implementation
NIRCA supports, sanctions and promotes member clubs’ endeavors into hosting and implementing events for other NIRCA clubs. NIRCA does not promote events organized or overseen by other associations. Club implemented races that have sponsorships do not fall into this category, and are eligible for promotion.
3Race Participation
All race participants in NIRCA sanctioned events must be members of NIRCA clubs and must conform with any requirements set by the hosting club’s university (eg. minimum age, etc).
4Event Insurance
Event insurance is required. Some sport club departments can help you secure insurance through the university/college, or it can be obtained through a third party.
5Manpower and Event Quality
NIRCA has a reputation as an established organization and we (the Executive Council) will not take on an activity if we can't offer you - our member clubs - a quality event for your money. Track and field events require immense amounts of manpower to coordinate and manage effectively. As mentioned earlier, NIRCA Executive Council members are unpaid volunteers. Until the NIRCA budget increases enough to dedicate a full-time event staff member, it would be extremely difficult to devote the time deserved to produce an event like a track championship.
6Results
All event results must be submitted electronically to NIRCA within 48 hours of the event.
clubrunning.org Promotion
Promoting your race on clubrunning.org enhances the advertisement of your race to the wider NIRCA target audience. Promotion includes simple information that leads to an external site or information page, and is dependent upon the following criteria:
1Affiliation
NIRCA races must be affiliated with the school or club hosting the event, eg. the Binghamton Open, Princeton Running Club Invitational or Penn Relayz.
3Event Information
The event information or event name should allow clubs to easily identify who the host club is, and should not lead teams to believe that it is a NIRCA-sanctioned event.
